Wedding Ceremony

The Ceremony

Barcaldine Castle has the appropriate licence to host Civil marriages and is firmly established as one of the foremost venues for the celebration of marriage on the West Coast of Scotland. Wedding ceremonies are conducted in the Great Hall by the lit open log fire, and by the sundial in the garden.

We often host very quiet weddings with just the couple present and can provide witnesses if required. It suits some couples to ‘slip away’ to the tranquillity of Barcaldine and marry quietly, enjoy a bottle of champagne by the fire and perhaps use the services of a local guide to capture further photo opportunities in the area and then have a celebration party with friends and family at a later date.

The maximum number of guests we can seat for a wedding ceremony in the castle is 40.

Wedding ceremony facility fees range from £300 to £1500 and include VAT. Rates are quoted individually and vary according to the number of people in the party, the time of year and duration of stay etc. A full written quotation is given once we have established your preferences.

The Registrar charges £290 to conduct a wedding at Barcaldine Castle. The Registrar is booked and paid separately by the couple and can be contacted on 01631 567908 or e mail gemma.cummins@argyll-bute.gov.uk Laws and regulations on civil marriage ceremonies can be found at www.gro-scotland.gov.uk. A minimum of 4-6 weeks notice is recommended.

The local Minister makes no charge but a donation to the local churches is welcome and you also need to pay to have the marriage registered. Rev Jeff MacCormick can be contacted on 01631 710364.
